Our Story

How it all started...

The Mayfair Church of Christ began as a successor to the Culbertson Heights Church of Christ and met together at our current location for the first time on April 13, 1958, when approximately 200 people gathered for the first worship service and Bible classes. The main auditorium at that time was the chapel located at the west end of our facilities. Within the first year, two morning services were regularly conducted until growth demanded the construction of our 1300 seat auditorium in 1962, where we still worship today.

Leaders through the years...

Mayfair has enjoyed a rich history, including many well loved and respected leaders, ministers, and preachers. Virgil Bentley served for ten years as minister until 1968. He was followed by Virgil Trout, Darrel Rickard, Tom Bedichek and Dr. Gary Grady. Seth McDowell and Gayland Geiger both served in the interim until the end of 2010 when  Randy Johns became our next  full time Preaching Minister. He served from April 2011, until June of 2018. At that time we began a search process that ended in December of 2018 when we were blessed to introduce Jared Chambers as our new minister.

Where we are headed...

We at the Mayfair Church of Christ are committed to loving our God and loving our neighbors with everything that we have. We believe that we have been placed in our location for a purpose and that purpose is to impact our neighborhood, our city, and the world with the love of Jesus Christ. Although the neighborhood around us has changed since our beginnings in 1958, our mission has not. As we look to the future, we desire to be a vibrant, active, and loving part of life in Oklahoma City.
